Truck Spill Cleanup
Fairbanks Environmental responded to spill resulting from a semi-truck accident on the Richardson Highway near Salcha, Alaska. FE staff provided oversight of contaminated snow removal, deployed sorbent boom, and monitored the spill site during spring snowmelt. Once the ground was thawed, the spill site was characterized through field screening and analytical soil sampling. Following characterization of the spill, FE staff directed and provided oversight of a removal action targeting diesel and hydraulic-oil contaminated soil. Confirmation samples were collected, and a report documenting the cleanup was prepared and submitted to the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC). The spill site was closed in October 2025 following ADEC approval of the report.
