Phase I site assessment (ESA)
Fairbanks Environmental staff conducted a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) on a light industrial property near North Pole, Alaska. The Phase I ESA was performed in accordance with standards and requirements defined by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), and included: site reconnaissance; interviews with regulatory agencies and site stakeholders; and reviews of federal/state/local databases, existing environmental reports, historical aerial images, topographic maps, and directories. FE staff conducted all components of the Phase I ESA and provided a comprehensive report that identified recognized environmental conditions at the site, satisfying the CERLA requirements for landowner liability protections.
